Incline aka. Cheese Wedge

Incline mats aka. Cheese Wedges are a great development tool for young gymnast.  Coaches often recommend these as a strengthen resource.  They are ideal for learning and perfecting exercises like handsprings, walkovers, and rolls.

Ages & Sizes

Selecting the right size for your young gymnastic can be both confusing and a little intimidating. It is ideal to find a mat, that will allow for your gymnast to utilize the mat now and as they grow.

So what size is appropriate, based on age and height? The following chart will provide a close idea of what size could work best.

  • Small:               34"l x 24"W x 14"h Best for ages 3-5
  • Medium:          60"L x 30' W x 15"H Best for ages 6-up
  • Professional: 72"L x 36"W x 16"H Best for anyone 50' or taller.

Ideally, you want to select a mat that is roughly 12" longer than your gymnast.  We also recommend seeking the advice of your gymnastics coach.  They can usually recommend a size based on your gymnast current skill level.

Common Questions

Can the mat be used outdoors?

The mats are best for indoor use.  The vinyl covering is not considered weather proof, and may wear faster if exposed to the elements.

Additionally,  flooring found indoors is a more suitable surface for these mats.  We also recommend placing the incline mats on top or near a landing mat to help prevent injuries.

Why do you recommend using a landing mat with my incline?

It is recommended but not required.  Depending on the gymnast skill level an additional mat may not be needed.  For young or new gymnast it may be a good idea as an added measure of protection.

What are these mats made of?

Our mats are made with dense foam core.  This allows for more frequent use and lessens wear and tear of the mats overtime.  The 18 oz vinyl cover assists with preventing tearing of the incline mat, and keeps it easy to clean.

What is the weight and dimensions of your incline mats?

  • Small:12lbs. -  24"x14"x34"
  • Medium: 27lbs. -  30"x17"x30"
  • Professional: 36lbs. - 37"x19"x37

Do your mats contain any toxins?

Our mats have been tested and exceed the ASTM standard consumer safety specifications for toys.  The ASTM standards for toy safety cover a variety of factors, including the content of product materials and packaging.

Why is there a PROP 65 warning label on the packaging?

Products sold to the state of California and are required by law to have the Prop 65 statement on all our items. This requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about possible exposure to chemicals.

You will also find that Prop 65 warning labels are listed on the packaging of all manufactured items including: food, prescription drugs. car parts, shoes, clothing, and water bottles. The following link provides more information on the Prop 65 Warning Labels. Proposition 65 Website
